Today's Random Good Thing...

actually comes via the media, which doesn't often give us good things.

Girl foils kidnapping

Calysta Cordova, 9-years-old, went missing on a walk home from school.  The truck she was riding in with her kidnapper broke down and the two were taken to a nearby convenience store.  Calysta had the fortitude and knowledge to call 9-1-1 and then refuse, loudly, to go anywhere with the man.  He ran off but was caught a short time later.

There are two good things in this story; one, that the girl is safe and back home and two, that she was, at some point in her young life, taught about 9-1-1 and 'stranger danger'.

We don't want to scare our kids but the unfortunate truth is we need to make sure they know what to do if the unimaginable happens.

It is a good thing Calysta did.

I ran headlong into a 'situation' today where I had to BE what I thought I was, or allow the thoughtless to happen. I'm feeling better after reading your post. I did right.

Beau's Mom -

I'm glad I could help. It's tough to find yourself in that position...

I hope things are okay.
